Recently, a group of netizens has called out for a boycott of Mirzapur 2 over the lead actor Ali Fazal’s stand on anti- Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA). #BoycottMirzapur2 became one of the top trends on Twitter hours after the release of the official trailer of Mirzapur 2 on October 6. the reason dates back to December last year when the actor Ali Fazal expressed his views on the anti-CAA protest.

Actor Ali Fazal is known for his famous role as Govind ‘Guddu’ Pandit in the first season of Mirzapur. The actor states that he is undaunted by the Boycott trend and find it necessary to voice out on important issues. The trailer was received on a positive note and a lot of fans took it to social media.
To acknowledge the trailer which heightened their anticipation for the battle of power and revenge between Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) and the duo Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) and Munna Tripathi ( Divyendu Sharma). Ali Fazal had tweeted his support for the anti-CAA violence with a dialogue from Mirzapur and co-producer Farhan Akhtar had taken part in the protests.

He does not want the others to “bear the brunt” of his actions. Hours after the release of the trailer on Amazon Prime, #BoycottMirzapur toped the trend chart in India.
Reacting to the trend in an interview with Times Now Digital, Ali Fazal said, “We have to decide what is the bar we are setting. Are we at the mercy of a trend? No! I don’t look at art in that way. No, I think this has really gone down. I mean if you are really talking about trends, I never saw any trends related to farmers – there have been protests everywhere across our country.
But I wouldn’t say that it’s not an important story, it’s the most important story. It’s not trending anymore but it’s still supposed to be the biggest problem that we are facing. I hope the people rise above that.”Actor Divyendu Sharma also reacts to the boycott calls and says that it is stupid and such tweets should not bother the cast and crew of the show.
The trailer of Mirzapur season 2 not only revolves around revenge and politics but also has a perfect touch of romance and action. The first season ended with the death of two main characters, Bablu Pandit( Vikrant Massey) and Sweety Gupta (Shriya Pilgaonkar). The plot of revenge will continue after the death of Guddu Pandit’s brother Bablu and Sweety. Guddu Pandit( Ali Fazal) and Sweety’s sister Golu Gupta( Shweta Tripathi) will avenge their death against the father-son duo Kaleen Bhaiya(Pankaj Tripathi), Munna (Divyendu Sharma) and their gang.
