The sea is fascinating and mysterious. Beneath the surface is a whole world we barely know. No wonder countless myths and legends take place in and under the sea; Atlantis, Davy Jones, mermaids, and every superstitious sailor’s greatest fear: the Kraken. clash of titans, pirates of the Caribbean, sea of thieves and many other movies and games feature the Kraken as a ship-consuming monster. The new children’s movie. Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken it shows a much more beautiful image of the dreaded monster.
More than enough kids’ movies play with the changes the body goes through during puberty. Ruby Gillman is not an exception. Ruby is a likeable protagonist; she has unique features and is energetic in a fun way. Other than that, she’s a typical teenager; she tries to work up the courage to ask out the person she likes and is desperate to break away from her parents.
One of her frustrations is that her mother forbids her to go near the water. Ruby doesn’t know it, but when she ends up in the water she turns into a giant kraken. She finds out much to her surprise after trying to save a boy she likes from the water. Subsequently, she gets to know her family from deep within, which causes great concern for her mother.
The underwater world is very uninteresting to watch. Especially after the new one. Avatar in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Is it disappointing to see an ocean so empty and dead? Even the soulless remake of The little Mermaid then I had a nicer underwater world Ruby Gillman. It’s a pity to see that the Oceanside town looks very characteristic, while the mysterious world to explore seems so boring.
Also, the animation doesn’t seem finished in several scenes. The animation quality varies from scene to scene, and often when the animation appears solid, there is nothing interesting in the background. Especially given Dreamworks’ good reputation in the field of animation, it’s disappointing that they offer such mediocre quality.
As for the story Ruby Gillman nothing to highlight either. It’s very similar turning redbut without the charm. All the characters around Ruby are not very memorable and new elements are constantly being introduced that distract from what has already been established. As a result, the climax of the film is extremely unsatisfying.
There are many cute moments in the film, such as the Gillmans’ family dynamic and pivotal points in Ruby’s development. However, the film falls short due to a lack of focus. Everything seems rushed, as if the movie is desperately trying to get from one point to the next without paying attention to how to get it right. There are no major low points, but unfortunately it is a bit.
